In 2019, Acoma Energy, LLC made a strategic shift—redirecting its focus from the increasingly competitive and high-priced Permian Basin to the less explored Marietta Basin in southern Oklahoma. Located just north of the Red River, the area offered a geological profile well-suited for oil and gas development, yet remained largely overlooked.

Acoma quickly secured 10,000 gross acres and early wells showed promising results. The move allowed the company to prioritize capital efficiency, directing funds toward drilling and development rather than costly acreage acquisition.

President Matthew Anderson emphasized the long-term value of entering a region with room to grow: a strategic, aggressive, and well-executed transition that positions Acoma for sustained success in an underappreciated basin with meaningful upside.
